LIBRARY EXPANSION 2011
In the framework of the Knowledge Depot-Express 3.2.4-09/1/KMR winning tender of the National Development Agency Social Renewal Operational Programme.
Dear Library Users and Visitors,
The Library of the University of Theatre and Film submitted a tender for the Knowledge Depot-Express 3.2.4-09/1/KMR of the National Development Agency Social Renewal Operational Programme and won a support of 24.023.463 HUF.
The tender will be realised in the scheme titled “The strengthening of the formal and informal educational role of the library network and for the purpose of life-long learning”.
We shall use the support in the framework of the project titled “Knowledge Depot of the University of Theatre and Film – “User-friendly Expansion in the Library of the University of Theatre and Film”
The project is realised with the support of the European Union and the co-financing of the European Social Fund.
The realisation of the project spans from 01.01 2011 to 31.12 2011.
Owing to the library-development of the University of Theatre and Film we shall expand the online catalogue (in which our complete collection of sound material and 40% of the book holdings can be accessed) with further 20 000 digitalised items and we shall create new computerised stations for the library users and new work stations for our library employees. The new homepage in four languages and web content accessibility makes the invaluable holdings in the field of theatre, music and film accessible for all - that means 40 000 volumes of specialized textbooks (plays, play scripts, books on theory, doctoral dissertations, theses), rarities (old and first edition books, autographed and hand-written works, yearbooks), 9000 music scores and nearly 4000 sounding and motion picture material (exam-performances and - films).
The expansion of the online catalogue will prove an effective help mainly for those participating in distance learning, users from outside of Budapest, artists working in the field of theatre, film and the media, researchers, critics and journalists.
Nearly 20 000 documents are borrowed each year from the library however the expansion will result in involving further groups of library users. The promotion of the new services will be supported by an information publication and a project launching event.
It is our high priority aim to publish a thematic list of titles and a specialized textbook database which support the preparation for this special type of entrance exam and which correspond with our field of study and specialization mainly targeting secondary-school students. The extra support-material on the homepage containing practical help as well will be introduced to the interested public during a special event.
The partners of the University of Theatre and Film in the project are the Hungarian Theatre Museum and Institute and the drama department of the Vörösmarty Secondary School and its students.
